Obituary for Gene Johnson Gene Johnson, 78 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at his home. He was born on Friday, November 15, 1940 in Livingston, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Perry and Willette Pennington Johnson. He retired from Wal-Mart with over 20 years of service.

He was also a Gospel music singer and songwriter. Survivors include: Wife of 59 years- Val Johnson of Sparta Daughter- Christy Judd (Tim) of Walling Granddaughter- Michelle Walker (Clint) of Sparta Granddaughter- Kerrie Young of Walling Grandson- Brandon Johnson of Rochester Hills, Michigan Brother- Kenneth Johnson (Barbara) of Sparta Sister- Katherine Graham (Richard) of Sparta Great-Grandchildren- Madilyn Walker, Lena Young, and Ava Johnson In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rickey Johnson and his granddaughter, Amanda Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Bro.

Clint Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Plain View Cemetery in the Cassville community. The family will welcome friends from 5pm until 9pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the funeral home.
