OBITUARY Genette “Janette”” Hammes April 20, 1934 – July 10, 2018 Genette “Janette” Hammes of Reading, age 84, died July 10, 2018 at the Golden Living Community in Phoenixville, PA. Born in Boyertown, PA, Janette was the eldest daughter of Adeline (Shaner) and Ernest Muthard. She was predeceased by her son Frederick J. “Skip” Hammes, III, her twin brother Gene, and her sister, Lucille Lingenfelter.

Janette is survived by her niece Elizabeth Lingenfelter of ME. Janette had a successful career in accounting at Pomroy’s department store, and was a long-standing manger at a large apartment building on Carsonia Ave. , in Reading where she resided.

She had a classy yet unconventional design sense in both clothing and decorating. Janette could transform pieces of bargain clothing into an exclusive designer outfit. Her Interiors were just as impressive.

She could take ordinary objects and create extraordinary environments. She was witty and had a contagious laugh. She had many friends, and was friendly to strangers.

She enjoyed antiquing, entertaining and chatting over wine and cheese or serving her guests tea in a fine china cup. There will be a funeral procession on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 leaving the LInwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, at 12:30 p.m., traveling to the Hill Church Union Cemetery, 620 Hill Church Road, Boyertown for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
