Obituary for Geneva B. Hyatt (Jones) Geneva “Jenny” Jones Hyatt peacefully passed on November 14, 2018 at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY surrounded by family and a special friend, Mrs. Yvonne Wonson. Geneva was born in Chester County November 27, 1929 to the late Lovett Jones, Sr. and Luberta Gilchrist Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Parnell Hyatt and two siblings, Robert Henry Jones, Sr. and Charles Jones.

Geneva was affectionately called “Jenny”. She was educated in the public schools of Chester and York Counties. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt.

Zion AME Zion Church #1 in Lansford, SC. Later, she joined Roosevelt Freeport Christ of Christ, Roosevelt, NY, where she was an active member. During her early years of employment, she worked at Alexander Department Store in Valley Stream, NY.

She loved to hear her brothers sing and make her grandchildren their favorite meals. Leaving to cherish her memory are a loving daughter, Elma M. Shannon, granddaughter, Tartia R. (Costella) and grandson, Marion Christopher Shannon, all of Columbia, SC; sister, Catherine Jones; four brothers, Lovett Jones, Jr., Edward Louis (Rose Lee) Jones, Sr., Maceo (Doshia) Jones, Willie Alexander (Janice) Jones, all of Rock Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives. Geneva also leaves many special friends: Fritroy Murray, Leonard (Valeria) Denson, Yvonne Wonson, Mary Byrd, Yvonne and Gabriel Cox, all of St. Albans, NY; Members of Roosevelt Freeport Church of Christ; and two goddaughters, Tiana Nelson of Chesapeake, VA and Trucella Hyes of VA.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Christopher E. Harris of Flint Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Mackins of Mt.

Zion AME Zion Church #! and and Rev. Jimmy Alexander, Sr. of Faith Christian Ministries.
