Ms. Geneva Hock was born on April 16, 1946 in Robeson County. On July 26, 2018 she went to her eternal home to forever be with her Lord and Savior. Geneva lived in Hope Mills, NC, a place she loved to call home and the place she was lovingly cared for by her husband, son and daughter.

Geneva was preceded in death by her mother, Ader Lowery and brother, David Sampson. During a service at Union Chapel Community Baptist Church, Geneva made a profession of faith. She was later baptized along with her son as he also made a profession of faith during the same service.

When chemo was no longer effective, Geneva told her family she was tired and ready to “go on” and live with Jesus as she knew He was her father and she would be with Him forever. Memories of Geneva will be cherished by her husband, Terry Hock, Sr. her son, Terry Hock, Jr. her daughter, Janel Hock, her son-in-law, Irving Galindez and precious granddaughter, Lilly Hock Galindez. Geneva’s brothers & sisters will also cherish her memories and the love she showed to all of us as the oldest sister.

Her brothers are Daniel Lowry and wife Sheila of Myrtle Beach, SC, James Lowery and wife Jo Ann of the Union Chapel Community. Her sisters are Susie Harris of Pembroke, NC, Ellon Jacobs and husband Ray of Bolton, NC, Patsy Chavis and husband Rev. Chester Chavis of Pembroke, NC and Debra Lowery of the Union Chapel Community.

Geneva also has many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She had a way of making all of them feel special. Family holiday gatherings were always important to Geneva and the abundance of food she prepared was cooked to perfection.

Some of Geneva’s dishes were a roast cooked in the crock pot, dressing that no-one could match, and collards and turnips washed and cooked with tender loving care. When able to do so, she always made sure we had sweet potato and pumpkins pies at Thanksgiving. Geneva loved Christmastime and started planning the meal in October.

Family meals have not been the same since Geneva became sick and not able to participate. They will never be the same.
