George A. Stummer, age 81, passed on Saturday, January 19, 2019 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on May 17, 1937 in Newark N.J. to George and Regina Stummer. George is survived by the love of his life, Rosee, to whom he was happily married for 54 years; his daughter, Lynne Tenten, son-in-law Michael, his three grandchildren Emily, Zachary and Nina; his son, Glenn, daughter-in-law Maria, two grandchildren, Griffin and Jacob; and his two sisters, Regina Mitterando and Helen Stummer.

George was a proud Marine Corps veteran, serving as sergeant from 1955-1958. He was a proprietor of a longstanding family furniture restoration business where he took special pride in his craftmanship. He enjoyed being an active part of the Westfield Tennis Club and had recently been awarded the distinction of Life Member.

His greatest pleasures included spending time with his grandchildren and traveling the world with his family. George always brought a smile to everyone he came in contact with and will truly be missed. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave.

, Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Mountainside.
