George Benjamin Paine, 83, “the Donut Man,” has gone home to Heaven on July 1, 2018 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. George’s marriage to Yvonne was a great example of a man who loved his wife and he expressed his love every single day. Yvonne loved him dearly and will miss him greatly after 64 and a half years of marriage.

Our family was very lucky to have such an incredible patriarch and proud retired Navy Chief to lead by example. He was a God-fearing man, a loving husband, a patient father, and a grandpa who spoiled the grandkids right to the edge of rotten. He showed his love by sharing donuts and coffee, dressing up as Santa Claus, watching sports, baking cakes for every occasion, and cooking big holiday meals.

He loved westerns, hunting, and feeding his yard deer. George was a great supporter of all children, not just his own family. You could find George at numerous activities: sporting events, concerts and plays.

No matter the event, he was there to support local youth in all of their endeavors. Over a cup of coffee, George could sit down and have a great visit with anyone. It didn’t matter who you were or what walk of life you came from.

He believed everyone had a place in this world. The saying “a jack of all trades, an ace of none” was created before George came along. He took pride in his work and his completed projects were done to perfection.

He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at Von’s Cafe, a restaurant that he built himself and owned for 30 years with his wife. He knew what it took to own and operate a successful business. From the beginning, he realized that to be the best, it would take more than six days a week on the job.

Most importantly, it would require a “people person,” one who treated the customers with respect and made them feel welcome. George knew that when a customer left the cafe, their experience would make them want to return time, and time again. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Alberta Paine and his step father Floyd Harness; his daughter Karen (Paine) Kuchenski; his sisters Mary Hamilton and Fern Bolt; and his brothers Roy, Floyd (Punk), and Art Paine.

Rest in peace Popsie. We love you! He is survived by his loving wife Yvonne Paine; his children George (Gale) Paine, LeVetta (Allen) Bailey, and Joe (Stephanie) Paine; his grandchildren Jesse, Bethaney, Gatlin (Little George), Mattea, Dutch, Jason, Benjiman, Angela, Nathaniel, Jeremiah and Adam; and 14 great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The viewing for George will be held at the Schnackenberg Funeral Home in Eureka, Montana on July 11 and 12 from 1-7 p.m. The graveside service with military honors will be held at the Eureka Cemetery on Saturday, July 14 at 11a.m. to be followed by a service at the Chapel of Praise at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
