George E. Vashon LAKELAND – George E. Vashon, 83, died November 20, 2018, in Lakeland, Florida. He was born July 27, 1935, to Antonio and Sarah Vashon of Hartford, Connecticut. George loved cars from an early age, and enjoyed spending his time working on and repairing them.

In 1979, he opened his own business, Vashon Precision Sharpening on South Combee Road in Lakeland, where he enjoyed many lasting friendships with his customers. George was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic… Read More » Church since moving to Florida in 1973, and was a member of Catholic War Veterans. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan; his son, Edward G. Vashon; his daughter, Marianne E. Vashon; his grandson, Antonio; and his cousin, Jack (Marietta) Carey.

The Vashon family wishes to thank all of their customers who made every day better for George. Dad really enjoyed the friendships with you over the years. He would thank you for the smiles, the challenges, and for those who joked and shared a laugh or two with him.

Viewing will be held on Monday, November 26, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 210 W. Lemon St., Lakeland, FL 33815 , with services following at 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, 2125 Bartow Rd. , Lakeland, FL 33801.
