George “Harold” Johnson, 73, of Augusta, GA passed away on November 27th, 2018 at Aiken Regional Medical Center after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Augusta, GA on January 24th 1945. The love of his life, Deborah Johnson, began her happy and eventful journey with him in 1984.
Families were joined as Harold’s son, Greg Johnson and Deborah’s daughters, Heather and Holly Hester, started a life journey together. Harold could make everyone laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor. After serving in the Army Reserves with the 319th Transportation Company in Long Binh, Vietnam, he then returned to Augusta to work at the family business, Augusta Lawnmower Parts.
When you walked into the doors of the business, you couldn’t help but smile, as his radiant personality was addictive to everyone he came in contact with. Harold spent his time doing things he loved that brought him joy. While going on numerous motorcycle rides with friends in his motorcycle group, everyone was always laughing as he told his jokes and told stories of his loving family He left behind many people who will greatly miss hm.
His loving wife, Deborah Hester-Johnson, his son, Greg Johnson (Shannon Green Johnson), step-daughters Heather Hester Durham (Keith Durham), and Holly Hester-Wilkins (Shane Wilkins). More than anything, his grandchildren, Gavin Johnson and Lacey Hester will never forget the loving times they had with him. In his last days, he was surrounded by people he loved and that loved him.
