Raymondville, Texas George Isaac Tibbs, 95 of Raymondville, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 in Retama Manor Nursing Home, Raymondville, Texas. He was born February 26, 1924 in Dallas County, Missouri to Edith and James Tibbs. Raised during the depression, on a farm, he always said, “We didn’t know we were poor, we always had what we needed”.

Following high school, he enlisted in the Army where he trained to be a pilot and was proud to be a member of the Army Air Corps. He married Ruby, “the love of his life”, on February 2, 1945 in Selma, AL. After WWII, George attended the University of Colorado where he obtained a degree in Pharmacy.

He spent the next 40 years as the owner of the Medical Center Pharmacy in Rapid City, SD George was active in his church, Rotary Club, Freemasons, Shriners and the State Pharmaceutical Association. He loved to golf, play games and listen to Country and Western music with his friends and family. He had a marvelous memory and enjoyed sharing stories about his life.

He and Ruby loved to travel and share their love of antiques. George had a huge heart and was always generous with his time and talents. He never met a stranger.

Most of all he loved his family. He always said he had five favorite children. George was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Walker Tibbs, his parents, 5 siblings and daughter, Susan Lucille.

He is survived by his sons, Scott Tibbs of Kerrville, TX, Craig (Joann) Tibbs of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Kathi (Richard) Doolittle of Austin, TX; Rebecca (JT) Brunner of Peoria, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Duddlesten Funeral Home, Raymondville, TX, with Reverend Randy Nichols officiating. A reception will follow at Bethel Lutheran Church, 8233 Park Avenue, Lyford, Texas.

Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Rapid City, S.D. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 6977 Main St., Houston, Texas 77030.
