George John Kopko Jr.(John) 49 of Mechanicsburg beloved son, brother and friend passed away suddenly on February 26, 2019 at home. John was born September 6, 1969 in Fort Wayne, IN to George J Sr. and Ann (Hoover) Kopko but lived most of his life in Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg PA. John loved his cars, bikes and drag racing.

In his younger years he was especially great at drag boat racing which included class champion at Trenton NJ, 3 time class champion in Harrisburg, class champion winner at Oakmont 3 Rivers Regatta and class runner up in the USDBA Nationals in Tennessee. He also enjoyed bowling throwing numerous 300 games most of them at Trindle Bowling Center where he worked for 25 years and made many friends there and throughout the bowling community. In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister Jayne Kopko – Mechanicsburg, Uncle Warren (Sibyl) Hoover – Magnolia DE, aunts Jean (Paul) Shuey – Naples FL, Patricia Hoover – Pasadena MD and Gail Hoover – Florence MA and numerous cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Charles and Martha Hoover and John and Anna Kopko, uncles Clifford Hoover and Charles Hoover Jr. A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held at Trindle Bowling Center 4695 E. Trindle Rd. Mechanicsburg PA on Tuesday March 12, 2019 from 3 PM to 6pm. Many who knew John well were aware that he battled with Bipolar disease most of his adult life so it is suggested in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to National Alliance of Mental Health by mail NAMI PO Box 49104 Baltimore MD 21297 – by phone 1-888-999-6264 or on line donate.
