George’s Obituary George L. Ginther, age 87,of Sharon, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Oh. Born December 7, 1931 in Rochester, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ella Mae Boggs Ginther. He married the former Catherine Porterfield on July 18, 1953 and she preceded him in death in 2013.

George served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Corporal and received several medals and citations including a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and a Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. George returned home from Korea and went to work for Wheatland Tube as a Craneman for 41 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Shenango Valley V.F.W. #1338 and the Sharon American Legion Post #299.

His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by a daughter Lisa and her husband Dave Ferencik of Sharon, PA, and a son James and his wife Patty Ginther of W. Middle, PA, four grandchildren, Nawney (Dave) McGranahan, Benjamin (Melissa) Ferenak, Sydney Ginther and Michael Ginther and great-grandchildren Kelsie and Justin McGranahan and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pat and Geri Kelly. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter Robin Ginther, four brothers, Robert, Donald, Kenneth and Jerry Ginther and a sister Doris Snell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm til 7:00 pm at the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home LLC, 264 E. State Street, Sharon Pa. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Doug Dyson officiating.

Full Military Honors will be performed by the Sharon- Hermitage Honor Guard.
