Obituary for George W. “Shorty” Crabtree George W. “Shorty” Crabtree age 87 of 304 Country Club Drive passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bluefield, VA and was a son of the late George Gilbert and Doris Lucille Watson Crabtree.

Mr. Crabtree was the former manager of E.L. Mansuer in Bluefield, VA and Clinton, SC. After his retirement from E. L. Mansuer he became co-owner of Crabtree Bros. in Laurens.

He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Lakeside Country Club, a member of the Palmetto Masonic Lodge #19 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Surviving are two brothers, Charles “Buck” Crabtree and wife, Teresa of Laurens, Pierce Crabtree and wife, Shirley of Bluefield, VA; a sister, Sue Hollyfield of Bluefield, VA; a brother-in-law, Ray Vest of Bluefield, VA and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Janet Ferell Crabtree and two sisters, Peggy Farley and Sara Vest.

Services will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 19th at 2:00 P.M. in the Pinelawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Clinton with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends following the service in the Mausoleum Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Laurens County Humane Society, 973 Poplar St, Clinton, SC 29325 or a charity of one’s choice.
