Gerald Anderson, age 80 of Copperas Cove, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tobin Scott officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will follow at a later date at their family ranch. Gerald was born on October 4, 1937, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was the son of the late Clifford and Bernice Rodvold Anderson.

He grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed at Ft. Hood and Ft.

Carson. He attended Penn State University. He married Mary Margaret Duncan on April 25, 1959.

He owned and operated Dakota Turf Supply in Sioux Falls, SD from 1960 until 1989. He was a member of the National Golf Course Association for twenty-five years and helped to start the Golf Course Association of South Dakota. They moved to Copperas Cove in 1996 to retire on their ranch.

After his retirement, he also worked for the Copperas Cove I.S.D. as a bus driver. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Travis Anderson in 2018; and a brother, Lonnie Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Margaret Anderson; sons, Steven Anderson and Brian D. Anderson; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandson and special friends, Rila Boellard and Peggy Letcher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church at 922 Lutheran Church Rd, Copperas Cove, TX 76522.
