Gerald Lee “Jerry” Guinnup, age 70, of Stanton, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at his home. The son of Charles & Helen (Larsen) Guinnup, he was born on September 18, 1948 in Greenville. A decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War, Jerry proudly served with the U.S. Army.

On August 27, 1970, in Greenville, he married Linda Sue Flowers and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage and raised three children. Jerry was still working at Wolverine World Wide, enjoyed exploring museums and watching the History and Discovery channels, but most of all enjoyed time spent with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Guinnup of Stanton; their three children, Lynnette Guinnup of Greenville, Jerry Guinnup & Mandy Platz of Greenville, and Carrie & Adam Hamrick of Stanton; two sisters and a brother, Christine & Robert Cazier of Cedar Springs, Reginald Guinnup of Cedar Springs, and Grace Guinnup of Greenville; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his year old boxer, Sophie. A celebration of life gathering is being planned and will be announced at a later date. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.
