Gerald L. “Jerry” Mattern, 85, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Canoe Creek, son of the late Jason and Florence “Sis” (Douglas) Mattern. He was married to Lucinda (Cherry) Mattern, and she preceded him in death on Dec.

26, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Jill (Charles) Liebal; three sons: David G. (Theresa), Kevin (Gerlinde) and Daniel (Tina M.); 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Shirley Boore. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jason; and a brother, Robert Yeager Jerry worked as a farmer for 30 years.

He was a member of the Williamsburg Baptist Church and the Canoe Creek Grange. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, tractors and spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 4 until the 6 p.m. funeral service Friday, May 10, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.

Interment will be at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
