Gerald L. Keener, 79, of Lower Burrell, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Belair Nursing Home, Lower Burrell. He was born March 8, 1939, in Youngwood, son of the late James Keener and Olive Hixson.

He lived most of his life in Mt. Pleasant. He served in the Army and was a laborer for Robert Shaw, Youngwood.

He was a member of the VFW, Mt. Pleasant. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Shaw Keener, of Lower Burrell; two sons, James Keener (Tabitha), of Lower Burrell, and Scott Keener (Becky), of Greensburg; daughter, Marcy Keener, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; four grandchildren, Karly, Michael Lagrotteria, Dante and Sidney.

He was preceded in death by parents, James Keener and Olive Hixson. The family has requested that the funeral service will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC.
