Gerald Robert Tanis June 06, 1939 – February 07, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Born in Paterson New Jersey, he passed peacefully at home under hospice care in Bluffton South Carolina. He was predeceased by his father Joel and mother Irene Tanis, sister Dorothy Naughton (Dave), brothers Joel (Kay), Walt, Charlie (Evelyn). He is survived by his wife Lynne Doherty Tanis, children Karen (Jake) Westbrook, Kim (Nils) Buri, Mike (Joanne) Tanis and Irene (Mark) Musilli, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and his sister in law Anne Tanis.

Gerald (Jerry) attended Ridgewood High School, was an entrepreneur, and worked along side his family at Joel Tanis and Sons. Jerry had a love for animals especially horses. He was a private pilot and avid boatman.

A private family celebration of life is to be held in May. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to Hospice Care of South Carolina in Geralds name Arrangements made by Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton.
