Germaine M. Wadas August 3, 1921 – January 2, 2019 Germaine M. Wadas, 97, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 10:40 am in her home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating.

Entombment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery Mausoleum, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 am till the time of Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana are handling arrangements.

She was born August 3, 1921 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Henry and Anna (Milcarek) Foldenauer. On November 8, 1947 she married Joseph J. Wadas, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Susanne St. John of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Rose Taylor of Westville, Indiana; son, Joseph H. Wadas of Michigan City, Indiana; eight Grandchildren, Brent Covert, Melanie Covert, Raymond St. John, Randall Covert, Mary St. John, Trish Taylor, Keith Covert and Lance Taylor; eight great-grandchildren, Joseph Martorano, Chase Covert, Annamarie Martorano, Emily Covert, Alex Covert, Jorja Gilbert, Dylan Covert, Hailey Covert along with son-in-law, Randall Covert of Michigan City, Indiana; She was preceded in death by daughter, Gloria Covert; three sisters, Genevieve Malecki, Mary Wroblewski and Frances Zolvinski; five brothers, Jerome,,Lyman, Richard, Mark and John Foldenauer; Germaine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana.

She was formerly a seamstress at Reliance Mfg, former girl scout leader, enjoyed gardening, excellent seamstress, polka dancing, Johnny Cash music, loved cooking and baking, huge Chicago Cubs & Bears fan and telling stories about her years growing up on the family farm. Spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren was a very big part of her life. Contributions may be made to Share Foundation for the Handicapped P.O. Box 400 Rolling Prairie, IN 46371.
