OBITUARY Germerial Warrick December 20, 1932 – November 14, 2018 Germerial Warrick peacefully went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 14, 2018. His wife of 62 years, June, was by his side. With a smile on his face, he took his final breath and was ushered into the presence of the Lord.
Germerial Warrick was born to Madge Chitwood and Glenn Warrick on December 20, 1932 in Dyer, Arkansas. He spent much of his life there running, riding anything with four legs, helping family and playing football at his alma mater in Alma, Arkansas – the home of the Alma Airedales. Madge later married Ernest McAllister and Germerial became a part of a larger family with 5 instant siblings, Barbara, Joe, Virginia, Beverly and Buddy.
He was later blessed with three younger sisters, Mary Alice, Linda and LaVonne. He would often tell stories of their lives together and the mischief they all got into. Many members of the family had significant impact on his early childhood and played a part in shaping his life; Grandparents, Burt and Sarah Chitwood; Great Uncle Node Renfro, Uncles Jack and D.C. Chitwood, Grandma McAllister, Uncle Bud and Aunt Blanche, childhood friend and cousin, Scott Chitwood and many others.
After graduating from high school, Germerial joined the United States Navy, serving from November 1951 to November 1955. While serving aboard the USS Mazama, he met his life-long friend Billy Hayes of Georgia. Once Germerial left the Navy, he traveled to California to visit his grandparents and look for work.
He was gifted with his hands and unafraid of hard work. Upon arriving, he looked for work and ended up at the local Carpenters Union. Carpenter by trade, he later specialized in acoustics and insulation and provided for his family through hard work and integrity.
It was in Santa Paula, California that Germerial met the love of his life, Lavada June Storts. He asked June for a date and she said “Yes”, but only if the second date would be him coming to church with her. Well, he said “Yes” too and in July of 1956, they were married at the Santa Paula Foursquare Church.
In July of 1957, they welcomed their son, Germerial Warrick Jr. and three years later their daughter, Diana Lynn. The family grew in 1979 with, son-in-law, Jim Boyd joining the family and daughter-in-law Janice Dianne Chezum joining the family in 1982. Germerial was blessed with four granddaughters, a grandson in-law and one great-granddaughter.
Granddaughters – Stephanie Nicole Whitney (husband, Joel), Carolyn Noel Boyd, Andrea Beth Warrick, Cassandra Faith Warrick; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Grace. Grandad and Grandpa was his name to those granddaughters and he loved, loved, loved each one and delighted in times with them. And, those girls loved him back.
Germerial enjoyed taking his family camping, fishing and to visit family and friends in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Georgia. Special family memories also included time with Granny and June’s family with lots of laughter and special times of singing and giving praise to God around the piano. Germerial took his family to church and instilled in them a love for God and family.
He was faithful to his wife and to the Lord. The world is a better place for having Germerial Warrick in it. Time goes so very fast, but we have this blessed hope and assurance as believers in Christ, we will be together again!
