Gertrude Fretzer (Trudy) Hale Gertrude Fretzer (Trudy) Hale, 94 of Stillwater, Oklahoma, former longtime resident of Duncan, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Primrose Assisted Living in Stillwater, with her family by her side. Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Duncan Cemetery, with Kyle Anderson, the Associate Pastor at the First United Methodist Church officiating, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Trudy was born June 20, 1924 in Vienna, Austria, to Elisabeth (Amsler) and Kristopher Fretzer. Trudy was married Don Hale in Vienna on March 18, 1947. The y resided in Duncan after Don’s graduation from Oklahoma A&M and his employment with Halliburton.

Trudy was mostly a stay at home mother but later worked for family friends at Nelson’s Daylight Donuts. she was always quick to volunteer for chauffeuring duties to sporting events or other school activities for her children and their friends. As an active member of Westside Church of Christ during her almost 50 years in Duncan, she was loved buy all her church and community friends that knew her.

Trudy and other friends formed a social bond through a group called “The Jolly Dollies” of which she was the last surviving member. Moving to Stillwater after Don’s death in 1997, she not only helped care for her youngest granddaughter but began forging many new friendship with neighbors and members of the First United Methodist congregation and as resident of both the Golden Oaks and Primrose assisted living facilities. Trudy is survived by her children; Andrew Hale & his wife Yvonne of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kristina Reneau & her husband Walter of Snyder, Texas, Glen Hale & his wife Nancy of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Kim Hale of Stillwater, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Amy Baker, Amanda Lunnon, Casity Reneau, Allison Michaud, Alana Smietanski, Audra Munoz, Alexia Cirillo, and Madison Hale, and 11 great-great grandchildren, her sister; Elisabeth (Elly) Feichtinger of Denver, Colorado, her cousins, Eleanor Kuhlman of Omaha, Nebraska, and Hannes Fretzer of Vienna, Austria and many nephews and nieces.

Trudy was preceded in death by her husband; Leonard Donald (don) Hale, her daughter-in-law; Sheryl Hale and her parents. Online condolences may be sent to www.
