Graveside services for Gertrude E. “Trudy” Olson, 86, will be Friday, May 17, 11:00 AM at Monument Hill Cemetery with Father Louis Shea of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Riverton, officiating. Firstborn of Walter and Mildred (Peavler) Lowe, Trudy was born October 28, 1932 in Deaver, Wyoming. In 1951 she married William “Bud” Vazanko and to this union were born two daughters.

The couple later divorced. In 1970 she married Carl Olson in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The couple moved to Thermopolis in 1981 where Trudy was employed as a Respiratory Therapist at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.

Retiring in 1990, she worked in the deli at Don’s IGA for eight years. After retiring from IGA she spent winters with her daughter, Mary, in Missouri and summers with her daughter, Kathy, in Basin. Trudy enjoyed gardening, baking, oil painting and creating porcelain dolls.

She was a seamstress and loved animals. She was a member of St. Frances Catholic Church in Thermopolis. Those cherishing her memory include her daughters, Mary Rollins of Columbia, MO and Kathy (Ron) Boyd of Basin, WY; sister, Barbara Bunn of Cody, five grandchildren, John, Nathan, Terry, Whitney and Brandon, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Alice, husband Carl and a granddaughter, Krystal. Memorials in Trudy’s name may be sent to New Hope Humane Society, 700 15 mile Rd. ,Worland, 82401.
