OBITUARY Gertrudis B. Tijerina March 12, 1934 – September 13, 2018 Gertrudis Tijerina, age 84, of Petronilla, Texas, passed away on September 13, 2018. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 12, 1934 to Marcelino Bernal and Mercedes Robles. She was married to Santiago Tijerina on April 30, 1949.

Gertrudis worked for Butterkrust Bakery for many years. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, baking, cooking, crocheting, playing cards and making many, many yummy tortillas. Gertrudis is survived by her children, Lamar (Joe), Jimmy (Janie), Sandra, Troy (Patsy) and Toby; grandchildren, JoLynn, Wendy, Mark, Roy, Jimmy “Bucky”, Robert, Ken “Tony”, RJ, Priscilla, Troy II, TJ and Tara; siblings, Mercy Garcia, Marcelino Bernal Jr., Gloria Cabrera, Elia Bernal and Gilbert Bernal; 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
