He was born on March 13, 1947 in Rio Grande City. He is preceded in death by his father, Gilberto Pena Sr. (+) and by his mother, Manuela Garza Pena (+), also by his sister, Elisa Pena (+).

He is survived, by his wife, Socorro Mejorado Pena, and by his daughter, Brenda Pena, also by his siblings, Francisca Pena, Gloria Perez, Jesus Pena, and Dalia Reyna, Raul Pena, San Juanita Pena and numerous nieces & nephews. Viewing days and times: Thursday May 3, 2018 From: 1. 00 pm to 9.
