Obituary for Ginger Lord Ginger Lord was born on May 20, 1944 and went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2018 at the age of 74. She is preceded in death by her parents Don and Billie Mays of Artesia, New Mexico. She was originally named Donna Kay, but her grandfather thought she looked like a “ginger snap”, and she’s been Ginger ever since.
Her family and friends referred to her as Ginger, and her grandchildren called her Mimi. Ginger grew up in Artesia, New Mexico, where she was Homecoming Queen and a cheerleader at Artesia High. She attended Arizona State University where she was a Gamma Phi Beta.
She met her beloved husband, Dick Lord, at a Peter Paul and Mary concert while Dick was in Pilot Training and four months later they were married. It wasn’t long until they started their family of two girls, Joy and Jill. The first 20 years of their life together, Dick was in the Air Force, and Ginger was the perfect military wife, including an overseas tour in England for 3 years where Dick flew for the Red Pelicans, an aerobatic team with the Royal Air Force and Ginger enjoyed her British friends.

They shared the love of tennis with their daughters as they played in high school and ginger adored watching their matches. Ginger and her daughters loved to be with one another and had there “quarterly outings” together where they shopped and at lunch together.
