Glen Wiley Mills was born in Springbrook, Oregon, to Dennis Mills and Halcyon Wiley on March 3, 1927. He died on January 12, 2019, at age 91. Glen grew up on the family farm in Springbrook.

He attended the local Newberg schools, graduating from Newberg Union High School in 1946. He attended Pacific College (now George Fox University). In 1949, he enlisted as a non-combatant in the Army and served a brief stint with the Army Medical Corps in Texas.

When his father died in 1950, Glen was granted a hardship discharge to run the family farm. Glen married Georgia Ruth Harris on November 23, 1951 in Greenleaf, Idaho. Together they worked Mills Organic Farm, producing fruits and nuts while rearing their three children.

Besides his farming responsibilities, Glen worked designing and building exhibits for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry for nearly 30 years. Following his retirement, he continued to build exhibits for various museums, schools, and institutions. Glen is survived by his children Joyce Mills, Charles Mills, and Mark Mills, and two grandsons.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Ruth, his brother, Loren, and his parents, Dennis and Halcyon Mills. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at Attrell’s Newberg Chapel, 207 Villa Road, Newberg, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
