Lois Ann (Castor) Pinneo, 90, passed on to her eternal home on December 4, 2018, in Newberg, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Newberg, Oregon on January 12, 2019 at 2pm. Lois was born on September 30, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to Edwin H. & Eleanor Castor.

While completing nursing school at Presbyterian Hospital of Philadelphia she met Jim Pinneo while he was a medical student and they married August 18, 1951 during his surgical residency. Together they were called to serve as medical missionaries in Glennallen, Alaska in 1954 with Faith Hospital (now Cross Road Health Ministries, Inc.) where they ministered to the people in the vast regions of the Copper River Valley for 33 years. After retiring in 1987 Dr. Jim and Lois moved near Wasilla, Alaska.

From there they continued to serve on short term missions opportunities in Haiti (Free Methodist Hospital-1988), Niger Republic (Galmi Hospital, SIM -1989), Bangladesh (Christian Memorial Hospital-1990), Senegal/ The Gambia/ Guinea Bissau/ Sierra Leone/ Ivory Coast/ Ghana (Logos II, Operation Mobilization-1991), Chili (Logos II, Operation Mobilization-1992), Caribbean (Logos II, Operation Mobilization-1992-93), & Brazil (Logos II, Operation Mobilization-1994) Dr. Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1998 which prompted a move closer to two of their children in Oregon in 2001. He preceded her in passing in 2009. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Mary Henry, Jeanne Saint, Dorothy Grau, & Ruth Morrison.

She is survived by brother & Sister-in-law H. Edwin & Ethel Castor of Lansdale, PA; Sister Eileen Pritz of Brookville, FL; Son & Daughter-in-Law Jim & Lilly Pinneo of Glendale, AZ; Daughter & Son-in-Law Marilyn & Doug Walker of Wilmore, KY; Son & Daughter-in-Law Ken & Sherri Pinneo of Surprise, AZ; Daughter & Son-in-Law Karen & Brent Lince of Hillsboro, OR; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her family members suggest memorial donations be directed to Wycliffe Bible Translators at www. wycliffe.org, designated for Johnny Walker, grandson of Lois & Jim Pinneo, who continues their missionary legacy along with his family in Tanzania, East Africa.
