OBITUARY Gloria Holmes Long October 1, 1924 – January 10, 2019 Gloria Holmes Long, age 94, of Southern Pines, NC, died January 10, 2019. Born October 1, 1924 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of Ralph Turbiville Holmes and Annie Hinson Holmes. Mrs. Long graduated from Statesville High School, attended Mitchell College in Statesville, NC and graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC.

She married the late Forrest Battle Long in 1949. Mrs. Long was a gifted interior decorator and owner of Gloria Long Interiors of Charlotte. She served the decorating needs of many Charlotteans for over 30 years.

Mrs. Long was a long- time supporter and volunteer of the March of Dimes. Mrs. Long is survived by her daughter, Ann (Bill) and son, Forrest (Jane). A service to celebrate Mrs. Long’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Christ Church Anglican, 750 Fairway Drive, Southern Pines, NC with the Reverend John L. Sharpe officiating.

The graveside service and burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC on Saturday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Christ Church Anglican, 750 Fairway Drive, Southern Pines, NC 28387. Harry & Bryant Co. of Charlotte and Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines are serving the family.
