Obituary for Gordon L. Jones Gordon L. Jones, 86, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born August 5, 1932 in Eldorado, Oklahoma the son of G.W. & Hattie (Isaacs) Jones. Born in Eldorado, Oklahoma, Gordon has lived in Garden City since 1962, moving from Sidney, Nebraska.

In the early 1950’s, he served in the United States Army Paratroop Division. Gordon worked for 33 years as a Sector Chief for the Federal Aviation Administration. After his retirement, he worked for 6 years at Home Depot.

Gordon was a member of the Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed woodworking and traveling. On June 15, 1957, he married Clara Nell Johnson in Crowell, Texas. She survives.

Other survivors include 2 children Carrie (Ron) France of Garden City and Kevin Jones of Garden City; 7 Grandchildren Kinlee (Derek) Scheer of Lakin, Ks. , Bailey (Gabe) Betts of Cottonwood Falls, Ks. , Roni (David) Delgado of Mesa, Az.

, Jacquelyn (Tony) Traffanstedt of Emporia, Ks. , Tia (Weston) Peitz of Garden City, Ks. , Derek (Tiffany) Jones of Holcomb, Ks.

, & Desirae Jones of Holcomb, Ks. ; and 20 Great-Grandchildren. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents; a Brother Donald Jones; and a Sister Mary Frances Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev. Chad Ulrich officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard.

There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
