Govindasamy S. Gounder, M.D., age 79, of Dublin, Ohio and Chenniyangirivalasu, Tamil Nadu, India passed away on May 21, 2019. He was born on April 7, 1940. He was a retired physician.

Preceded in death by his beloved parents V.M. Subramania and Ponnammal Subramania; his beloved brother Ramasamy; and his beloved sister Padmavathi. Survived by his beloved wife, Ukthambal G. Gounder; his beloved children, Sukumaran “Sugi” Gounder, Pradeep Gounder, and Divya (Lucas) Hedgren; his beloved granddaughter, Sona Hedgren; his beloved sister, Rathinambal; and many beloved family and friends. He was a graduate of P.S.G. Arts College in Coimbatore, India (1956-1957); St. Joseph’s College (Pre-Med) in Trichy, India (1957-1958); Madras Medical College (M.B.B.S) in Madras, India (1965); and Topiwala National Medical College (Doctor of Medicine) in Bombay, India (1972).

He maintained an active medical license through his retirement. He was devoted to his family in both the US and India. He was an active participant at the Chennimalai Eswaran Temple in Chennimalai, Tamil Nadu, India.

Funeral service to be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Rutherford Funeral Home located at 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065. Viewing from 12noon to 3pm with concurrent Hindu Prayer Services from 1:30pm to 2:30pm followed by cremation. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Govindasamy S.
