On October 24th, 2018, Grace Bernice Fulcher won her 3-year battle with brain cancer, entering into heaven to be with her Lord and Savior. Grace had a creative soul with a sweet spirit. She was a diligent student and loving daughter and sister.
Grace had been active as a second violinist in the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra, played on the first girls Flag football team at Niceville High school and was active in Key Club, Leadership Club, 3 years in the National Honor Society, Literary Club, Chorus, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Daughters of the King Club, and the Scrubs Club. Grace did not let the long distance of radiation treatments in Birmingham deter her from getting her school work done. She was determined to graduate from Niceville High School on time and with her peers.
Despite her everyday challenges, treatments and chemotherapy, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Niceville High School in May of 2017 with a 4. 4 GPA. Grace played the violin since she was 8 years old and she loved the years as second violinist in the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra.
She wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and in the summers would volunteer at local hospitals and would shadow doctors at Eglin Air Force Base Hospital. Grace was a military kid and loved to travel. She was able to live overseas and traveled to four different countries.
She treasured her friend’s loyalty to her during her cancer journey. Grace loved her little brother, Maxx. They shared a special sibling bond and we know she will always watch over him.
Grace worked so hard to excel academically and looked forward to going away to college. She completed one semester at Northwest Florida State College. Because she was unable to pursue college, her family will establish the Amazing Grace Memorial Scholarship.
It will provide one annual scholarship to a high school senior or college student who are cancer survivors or currently diagnosed with cancer. Left to treasure her memory are her parents, Nathan and Frances Fulcher of Niceville. FL; her brother, Maxxwell Fulcher of Niceville, FL; grandparents Harold and Lucinda Harris of Laurel, MD; grandparents, Ashely (deceased) and June Fulcher of Jacksonville, NC; Aunt Pamela Harris of Charlotte, NC; Uncle Greg Lanier of Los Angeles, CA; Aunt Robin Page of Richlands, NC and a host of loving cousins.
We cannot forget her loving companion, Harley-Davidson the Yorkshire Terrier, AKA, “Fluffy Bunny”. Through it all, Grace still kept smiling. She is truly a testament to what is possible when you have hope.
Her faith in God kept her encouraged and she is truly our Amazing Grace. The family would also like to thank all of her family, friends and the medical professionals who lovingly cared for Grace. There will be a Celebration of Life held at Crosspoint, UMC of Niceville on Saturday, November 3, 2018 beginning at 11a.m. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation cbtf.org, or to the Amazing Grace Memorial Scholarship through the following link: www.
