Grace Mae Csonka, 83, most recently of Lebanon, OH passed peacefully on May 7th, 2019 at Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV following a lengthy illness. A daughter of the late Jack and Grace Rice MacDonald, she was born in Coraopolis, PA. , in 1935, and lived the first half of her life in Allegheny and Beaver counties in PA.

She was a graduate of Coraopolis High School. Grace led an interesting and diverse life, most of which was a reflection of her Christian principles. As her children were growing, she was an active member of the Tomlinson Run Church of Christ in Hookstown, PA.

Beyond her dedication to Christ, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She strove diligently to provide proper care and nurture for her home, extended family, and neighbors, trying to emulate the Virtuous Woman described in Proverbs 31. As if being a homemaker wasn’t enough for a blended family of 7 children, Grace also helped run the family farm, performed book-keeping for the family businesses, owned and operated her own antique business, and found time to love and support 10 foster children over two decades.

She subsequently left Pennsylvania to live close to her children and grandchildren in Florida, Texas, and Ohio sequentially. In her retirement, Grace volunteered with several organizations via many roles, including three years working with her church-family in Bucharest, Romania in the mid-’90s, and continued to dabble with antiques, gardening, and travel. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Harbaugh, and her second husband, Carol Csonka, as well as Carol’s first daughter, Sheila Ann Csonka.

Jim and Carol were both Army Air Corps veterans of WWII. Left to cherish her memories are her six remaining children: Danny (Penny) Csonka of New Cumberland, WV; Patricia (Gary) Robinson of Chester, WV; James (Kim) Harbaugh of Temple Terrace, FL; Steven (Pam) Csonka of Lebanon, OH; Samuel (Sharmin) Csonka of Pineville, LA; and Mary (Jeff) Teague of Fort Worth, TX. Also surviving her are: three sisters, Agnes Benson of Texas, Peggy DeWoehrel of Pennsylvania, and Judy Lohr of Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In fulfilling Grace’s wishes no services will be held her care has been entrusted to the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
