Grace M. Metcalf 92, formerly of Santa Cruz, CA, passed away on 12/23/18 at Van Crest of Delphos, Oh. She was born on June 18, 1926 in Vancouver B.C., Canada to Frank and Annie (Perrey) Eshelby, who proceeded her in death. On July 23, 1945 she was united in marriage to Donald C. Metcalf who proceeded her in death on June 25, 1978.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law Sue Metcalf of Delphos Oh, granddaughter Mandie (JJ) Harris, great granddaughter Madie Brown, John Robert and Jonah Blake Harris all of Olive Branch MS. niece Toni Diane (Gary) West of Hawaii, nephew Richard (Ellen) Metcalf of Copperopolis CA, and sister-in-law Mitzi Metcalf of Santa Cruz, CA. Grace was also proceeded in death by her son Robert (Bob) Metcalf of Delphos OH, and sister Winifred Eshelby of Vancouver, Canada.

Grace retired in 1988 as a glass blower from Watkins-Johnson Electronics in Scotts Valley CA. She was instrumental in producing microwave tubes used in many of the rockets and space shuttles at that time. She had been a member of Garfield Park Christian Church, Santa Cruz, CA.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter and great grandchildren. Family meant the world to her. She enjoyed traveling to foreign countries visiting her extended family and gardening.

Her flowers were the envy of the neighborhood. There will be no services per Grace’s request. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Santa Cruz, CA.

Harter and Schier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Van Crest Activities Dept. or Charity of Donor’s choice.
