Gregory “Greg” Gene Land passed away on Aug. 12, 2018, after an extended illness. Greg was born on Aug.

23, 1951 in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1970. Greg worked in the Food Industry, as a grocer and a broker. He also worked in the Oil and Gas Industry as a wire-line employee for his uncle, Dick Hartsell.

He retired from Acosta Foods after 35 years. He loved his family, co-workers, friends, Chicago Cubs and University of Oklahoma Sooners. Greg married Joni Johnson in 1980.

They have 3 children, Jeremy, Caitlin and Hunter. Greg loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed watching sports and old movies.

He collected and traded baseball cards. He loved to “affectionately” discuss and debate politics, most passionately with his family and sister, Lesa Huff. Greg also enjoyed taking Caitlin to dance rehearsal for many years, but wasn’t a big a fan of recitals.

He attended Jeremy and Hunters baseball & hockey games. He and Joni were their biggest fans. Most memorable moments were Labor Day weekend celebrating the Adams Family Annual Reunion.

Many times, over 40-50 friends and relatives would gather in cabins at Lake Texoma Resort. So many memorable moments with the family including riding on the pontoon or catching a ride on Larry and Nancy Barnes boat (Greg’s 1st cousins). Greg loved any holiday event or dinner celebration with his family and friends, most notably “Mamaw Adams Peppers” at Christmas.

Greg is survived by his wife, Joni, son, Jeremy Land and wife, Stephanie of Oklahoma City. Daughter Caitlin of Los Angeles, California and Hunter of Oklahoma City. Sister, Lesa Huff and husband, Tim of Oklahoma City.

Sister-In-Law, Dana Land of Oklahoma City. Nephew, Tyler Stroud, wife Felicia and great-nephew, Noah, Niece, Brittany Stroud, all of Oklahoma City. Also, Sister-In-Law, Jan Masters husband Frank and Brother-In-Law Thomas “John” Johnson and wife Shari, Florida, in additional to a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by parents, Gene & LeVeta Land. Brother, Jeff Land and many friends and relatives. Services are scheduled Sat, Oct 20 at 1pm, New Covenant Christian Church, 12000 N. Rockwell, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Covenant Christian Church.
