Obituary for Grete M. McKenna Grete M. McKenna, age 90, of Cary passed away July 12, 2018 at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington. She was born November 28, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Louis and Astrid Balk Miller. She graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1945.

She received her nursing diploma from Ravenswood School of Nursing. Grete was an avid and skilled bridge player. Her greatest joy was spending time with her ever growing family.

Grete is survived by her children: Kristine (Dr.Samuel) Granieri, Kathleen McKenna, Dr. Michael (Susan) McKenna, Patrick (Nancy) McKenna, Mary Jo Johnson, Julie (Mark) Bures, Jane McKenna, Meg (Casey) Warnecke and Peter (Kelly) McKenna. She was a loving Grandma to 21 grandchildren and G.G. to 18 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Grete was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Joseph E. McKenna, her brother Allen Miller, her sister Elsa Klein, her brother-in-law Theodore Klein and her son-in-law Christopher Johnson.

There will be a visitation for Grete on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd. , Cary. Funeral Mass for Grete will be Monday, July 16th at 10:30 AM at SS.

Peter & Paul Church, 410 First St., Cary and followed with burial at St. John Nepomucene Cemetery. Memorials would be appreciated to JourneyCare Hospice, 405 Lake Zurich Rd. , Barrington, IL 60010.
