Obituary for Gwendlynne P. “Gwen” Eisert (Gillingham) Print Gwendlynne P. “Gwen” Gillingham Eisert, 80, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 16, 2018 at LECOM at Presque Isle. She was born in Erie on October 19, 1938 a daughter of the late Harry Gillingham and June Sternburg Gillingham Walker. Gwen graduated from McDowell High School and worked in the claims department for Aetna and Travelers Insurance companies.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church where she was a volunteer worker in the food pantry, the Summit Seniors Center, and a former board member of the Presque Isle St. Bernard Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Neil G. Eisert, Sr.; one sister, Darlene Johnson; and one niece, Valerie Kennedy. Gwen loved being a mother to her children, Neil G. Eisert, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Erie; Lynn Eisert-Haskins and her husband, Brian, of North East, Jan Eisert of Erie, and Kim Crabb and her husband, Michael, of Mt.

Pleasant, TX. She is further survived by one brother, Roger Gillingham and his wife, Sue, of Indiana; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd.

, on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Wednesday at 1 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m.. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staffs at VNA Hospice and LECOM at Presque Isle for their loving care and compassion given to Gwen.
