Obituary for Harold J. Ball Harold J. Ball, 71 of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the High Pointe House in Haverhill. He was the loving husband of Catherine Anne (Garofalo) Ball, to whom he was married for 46 years. Born in Lawrence on June 4, 1947, he was the son of Harold and Anna (Kostrewa) Ball.

Harold graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then graduated from Northern Es Community College in Haverhill with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He worked as an assembler for the Raytheon Company in Andover for 12 years and then as a mailman with the Lawrence Post Office for 35 years until his retirement in July 2010.

Harold was a member of the Methuen V.F.W. Post # 8349 and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 212 in Lawrence. In his free time, he enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach, SC and the Jersey Shore with family and friends. He often tested his luck and took many chances with the MA lottery in hopes of winning the “big one”.

He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their extracurricular activities. He was a good citizen in every sense of the word and would make personal sacrifices daily to assist his family and friends. Harold will be deeply missed by his wife, Catherine; 4 children, Elizabeth Rodriguez and her husband, Louie of Methuen, Tara Ball and her fiancé, Bill Fontaine of Methuen, Harold Ball, Jr. and his wife, Ashley of Methuen; and Edward Ball of Methuen; 5 grandchildren, Eric Shannon, Sophia Rodriguez, Angelina Rodriguez, Autumn Fontaine, and Wesley J. Ball; his brother, Allan P. Ball of Londonderry, NH; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Harold’s life by gathering for his calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 4-8 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Thursday at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
