Bellmyer February 14, 1939 – December 28, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Harriet Connors Sears Bellmyer, 79, of Navasota, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at Golden Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Navasota. Memorial services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, January 5, 2018 at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Pastor Matthias Dinger will officiate.

Her ashes are to buried in the family plot at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK. Harriet was born February 14, 1939 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to James Spruance and Verna Lillian Edwards Connors. She graduated from College-High School in Bartlesville, OK in 1957 and later went to work as a local operator for Southwestern Bell.

While working with Southwestern Bell she enrolled in several classes at Bartlesville Business College. In 1958 she became a stenographer with Phillips Petroleum Co. After moving to Pasadena, TX in 1961, she started as a clerk with Prudential Insurance Co. in the Pasadena office, rising to Assistant Office Manager in 1970 and Office Manager for the Houston Southeast District Office in 1975. 1980 found her working for Southern Pacific Transportation Co. (SP RR) as steno-clerk to the Superintendent of the Wood Preserving Works.

Later jobs included walking track at the One Spot and running a fork lift in the Wheel Yard. Finally she was appointed to the position of File Clerk in the Labor Relations Dept. , the job she enjoyed most of all during her working life.

Harriet served on the Board of Directors of SPCo Federal Credit Union for several years before resigning in 1995. She was also a member of the DAR with seven documented ancestors, the National Society of Magna Charta Dames and the National Society Women Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company. She was a life member of VFW Post 4006 Ladies Auxiliary and served as secretary for a several terms.

Chairmanships included Patriotic Instructor, Legislative. She received help from her family members as well as other members of the Ladies Auxiliary. Harriet was also a member of Robert Raines Chapter of the DAR and Colonial Dames.

In 1995 she moved to Navasota. Retirement years brought travel, researching genealogy, going to garage sales and “antiquing” in general and reading, especially when seated on the backyard swing with her cat. Many in Navasota will remember her picking up trash along the streets with her red pick-up parked close by.

She was chaplain of the Young at Heart organization and drove for the Grimes Health Re Center for almost 4 years until her health would no longer allow her to do so. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert Dean Sears, Jr. Survivor include a daughter, Susan Lynn Bellmyer and partner Santiago (Jimmy) San Miguel of Winfred, TX; a son, Patrick Wayne Bellmyer and wife Sheryl of Houston; grandchildren, Stephen Jeremy Aguero and wife Christiana, Lane Orlean Ireland and Chance Colton Ireland; great granddaughter, Lyla Rose Aguero; a brother, Ralph James Connors and wife Brenda; a sister, Marjorie Connors Lawrence and husband Cecil, as well as nieces, nephews and their families and a great number of friends. For those that desire, the family has requested memorials to a favorite charity.
