Obituary for Harry “David” Cargill Cargill, Harry “David” Age 82 of Henrietta, NY formerly of Fairfield Glade, TN passed away July 1, 2018. David was born in Buffalo, NY, December 30, 1935, the son of Harry C. and Bertha (Eschler) Cargill. He graduated from Brockport State Teachers College in 1957 with a BS in Education and received his MS in Education in 1963 and NYS Administrator and Supervisor Certificate in 1968.

A retired elementary school teacher and school administrator for a total of 36 years, David also coached varsity football, wrestling, tennis, track and field and golf. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer and played the Big 10 group in Fairfield Glade for several years. David was very active in the Boy Scouts of American in Batavia, NY and Sanford, NC.

He stared out as a Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout troop leader and completed the adult leadership program. David served as District Round Table and Council Commissioner and was a member of the Council Executive Board. He was Coordinator and Facilitator of the Scouter College of Commissioner of Science and received the Silver Beaver Award and Woodbadge Beads, and was a member of the Order of the Arrow-Vigil.

David took several scouts on the Appalachian Trail hiking and managed to complete 520 miles in several segments. David also served eight years in the US Naval Reserve in Rochester, NY as a Gunner’s Mate First Class. He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Lou High.

David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay E. Cargill, of West Henrietta, son Todd D. Cargill of Bergen, NY; grandchildren, Leah and Joshua Cargill; nephews, Brian and James High; brother-in-law, H. Glen High. His Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Episcopal Church Home Chapel at 3:30 P.M. Donations may be made to the Iroquois Trail Counsel, 201 E. Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
