Hartzel Ray Jordan, 83, of Walkersville passed away under the compassionate care of Crestview Manor on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was born in Lewis County on April 8, 1935 a son of the late Dave Nile and Rose Lee Cogar Jordan. Cherishing their memories of Hartzel are six children: Donnie Jordan and wife, Lana, of Ireland, Vera Perrine and husband, Gary, of Centerville, GA, Doug Jordan and wife, Angel, of Ireland, Alex Jordan of Maxwell, IA, Rose Milnes and husband, Todd, of Greenfield, OH, and Vicki Cayton and husband, Brad, of Buckhannon; seventeen grandchildren: Lynn, Terry, Brian, Sianna, Rachel, Jordan, Anna, Autumn, Hunter, Mischa, Wyatt, Jarrett, Matthew, Adam, Ben, Ryan, and Beth; several great grandchildren; and four siblings: Montie Jordan and wife, Francis, formerly of Webster Springs, Wilma Lee of Brandon, FL, Doris Lake of Canton, OH, and Betty Wilson of Stonewood.

In addition to his parents, Hartzel was preceded in death by eight siblings: Juanita Lake, Helen Dockery, Margie Jordan, Ellsworth Jordan, Glenn Jordan, Donnie Jordan, Daisy Jordan, and Wanda Carkin; and one daughter-in-law, Glenna Jordan. Hartzel worked for Lowthers where he spent years as a head sawyer in addition to various other positions. When he wasn’t working, Hartzel enjoyed trading cars and gardening.

He was Methodist by faith and family was very important to him. Although he enjoyed cutting up and joking, he always treasured his time spent with his loved ones. Hartzel’s request for cremation has been honored and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
