Harvey O. Meckley, 72, of Buffalo Twp. , passed away on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 peacefully, at his home after a hard fought battle with the affects of his exposure to Agent Orange. Harvey was born in Natrona Heights on August 2, 1946, a son of the late Zelda M. (Thalman) and Paul D. Meckley, Sr. Harvey was a 1965 graduate of Tarentum High School.

After graduation, Harvey was drafted into the US Army and was a combat veteran of the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Harvey came home and took a job with Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in West Leechburg eventually retiring in 2003.

He was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Fawn Twp. Harvey enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, hanging out with his friends and spending as much time as possible with his granddaughters. Harvey is survived by his daughter and son in law, Vicki & Ed Selker.

His three granddaughters, Jenna, Sydney & Reese Selker. He is also survived by his brother, Paul D. Meckley, Jr., of Fawn Twp. , and his 2 sisters, Daisy Lipus, of Natrona Heights and Alice Dunlap of Nebraska.

Harvey is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer S. Meckley (1992) and his granddaughter, Kayla A. Swartz. (2015) Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 8th 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 9th at Redmond Funeral Home Inc. in Freeport, PA with Pastor Michael Tenga, officiating.

Harvey will be buried with his daughter and granddaughter with military honors at the McVille Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Restore Freeport Park, 150 Arner Rd. Freeport, PA 16229.
