OBITUARY Harvin Reinink July 22, 1930 – September 6, 2018 Harvin J. Reinink went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 6, 2018. Harv was born on July 22, 1930 in Holland, Michigan to the late Albert and Catherine (VerHage) Reinink. Harv is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gail (Kunkel) Reinink; nine children, Sue (Ron) Meyerholtz, Mike Reinink, Kathy (Jim) Bierens, Marea (John) Horrell, Cindy (Tim) Straka, David (Suzanne) Reinink, Bob Reinink, Barb (Carl) Thompson, and Carol Reinink; thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ron (Mary) and Len (Judy) Reinink; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Harv graduated from Holland Christian High School in 1948. He then earned a Bachelors of Arts in Education from Calvin College in 1952. He later went on to earn an M.Ed.

(+45 credits) from the University of Michigan. After graduating from Calvin, Harv joined the US Navy, where he served our country and protected our freedoms as a First Class Hospital Corpsman aboard the USS Hancock. After leaving the Service, Harv found his true passion as a childhood educator, where he helped shape the minds of many generations.

He spent most of his 36 year career at East Grand Rapids Public Schools. Harv loved spending time outdoors. He maintained a landscaping business from his college years to well after his formal retirement.

He was also an avid gardener. Harv’s faith was very important to him. He was a 61 year member at Riverside Christian Reformed Church where he served as a Deacon, and then an Elder.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Reyers North Valley Chapel from 4:00 – 7:00pm. A Funeral Service will follow on Monday, September 10, 2018, at 11:00am, at Riverside Christian Reformed Church (602 Comstock Blvd. NE, Grand Rapids, 49505), with a Visitation an hour prior.
