Hazel Margaret Myers Walter , January 02, 1916 — September 28, 2018

HAZEL M. WALTER Hazel Margaret Walter, age 102 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, September 28, 2018. She was born on January 2, 1916, one of four children of Curtis Henderson Myers and Emma Jane (Sumney) Myers. She grew up on the family farm in Nottingham Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, which currently Mingo County Park in Washington County.

Hazel was the last surviving member of the Monongahela High School Class of 1934 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Penn Commercial Business / Technical School in Washington, Pennsylvania after high school; worked at the Maytag store in Washington and later at Coshocton Manufacturing in Monongahela. She married Carl Albert Walter in 1948 and they settled in Clairton, Pennsylvania.

She was a member of the Wilson Presbyterian Church in Clairton; the Rostraver Grange and she loved gardening, canning, cooking, baking pies, planting flowers and ALL farm animals. She was preceded in death by her parents; all three of her siblings, Ralph Myers, Mary Neill and Ross Myers and she was the devoted wife of Carl, who died January 25, 1984. Hazel is survived by and was the loving mother of three children, Howard (Darlene) Walter, George Walter and Ruth Walter.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills 15025 on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM and on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 10 – 11 AM at which time her funeral service will be held. Pastor Ben Robinson of the Wilson Presbyterian Church will officiate at the service. Her burial will follow in Lebanon Church Cemetery in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
