Obituary for Helen Himmer Helen Himmer, 94 of Huguenot, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital North surrounded by her loving family. Born Tuesday, February 26, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emily Wagner. Helen was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived there until 1977 before settling in Huguenot with her family.

Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph who passed in 1996 and her son in law Bill. Helen loved reading, doing word search puzzles, and taking trip to Atlantic City with her husband. She also enjoyed watching the Brooklyn Dodgers and then the New York Yankees.

Her daily routine always included watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a wonderful neighbor who enjoyed the time she spent with the dear friends she made on the block. Though she never drove, she was always up for being the passenger on any trip she got the opportunity to take.

Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family. Her grandchildren were the sunshine of ther life. Surviving are daughters, Diane Leonard (Gerard) and Barbara McEvilly.

Grandsons Matthew Leonard (Kim) and Peter McEvilly (Megan), two great grandchildren Katie and Finn and twins expected in Febraury 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at St Joseph’s Church (Rossville) located at 16 Poplar Ave Staten Island, New York 10309. Interment will be following in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, and 2:00 -4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children Research Foundation. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.
