Obituary for Walter W. Slutsky Walter W. Slutsky, 94,passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Catstkill Regional Medical Center in Harris, New York. Walter was born and raised in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn to the late Alexander and Mary Slutsky. He settled in Eltingville in 1971.

He served honorably in the United States Army Air Corp. from 1943 until 1946, achieving the rank of Corporal. Walter was a Police Officer with the New York City Police Department for 25 years, retiring out of the 71st Precinct in 1970.

He then worked as an Investigator with the NYS Deparment of Taxation and Finance, retiring in 1995. He was also a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 841. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the sport for many years, however, what was most important to him was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was the loving father to William Slutsky; devoted grandfather to Janelle Palermo, Briana Slutsky and William Slutsky, Jr.; cherished great grandfather to Alexander Baer and Gabriella Palermo; and dear brother to the late Alexander, Helen and Anna ”Nini”. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018, at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York.

A Funeral Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, NY. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Walter W. Slutsky please visit our Sympathy Store.
