OBITUARY Helen June Steakley June 15, 1923 – September 12, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Helen June Steakley June 15, 1923 – September 12, 2018 Helen June Steakley, 95, passed away peacefully with family on September 12, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother and Grams, adored and loved by all who knew her. Helen was born in Wood County, East Texas to Chester Lafayette Richards and Alice Coreta Heim Richards, one of 13 children.

She lived in Pensacola, FL as a child, then moved with the family to Oklahoma City, where she attended catholic school. She returned to Pensacola to live with a sister after graduation and worked as a dental assistant, enjoying the beach and big band dances with friends. After returning to Oklahoma City, she met and married the love of her life, a handsome young Army man named Johnny Steakley, who had just returned home from World War II.

They started their family, having two sons and four daughters. In addition to being a homemaker, Helen later worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City for twenty years as an Administrative Assistant and was an Assistant Manager for several rental properties in Oklahoma City before and after her retirement. Family was so important to her and she found great joy in the time spent with her children and grandchildren and the family gatherings.

She was a strong, fun-loving, selfless, witty, kind and compassionate woman with a heart of gold. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew and loved her. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all of the lives she touched and she is now safe in the arms of our Lord for eternity, dancing in heaven with her beloved Johnny, son Steve, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John L. Steakley Jr., son Steven Randolph Steakley and 12 siblings. She is survived by devoted children, Danny Steakley (Kathy) of Edmond, OK, Cinde Michaud (Tom) of Edmond, OK, Debi Young (David) of Arcadia, OK, Leigh Ann Adams of Flower Mound, TX and Trish Ewing of Edmond, OK; eighteen grandchildren, Sarah Pruellage (William), Lauren Brollier (Tucker), Kristi Steakley (Jonathan), Anna Johnson (Jay), Shannon Winsor, Ben Michaud (Heather), Alex Michaud (Jane), Missy Madewell (Mark), Jeff Young (Adrian), Tim Young (Amy), Emily McKee (Josh), Dawn Charters, Amanda Parrish (Brennan), Renee Stanley (Matthew), Brad Ewing (Bonnie), Kevin Ewing (Alyssa), Brent Ewing (Natasha) and Kelly Ewing; thirty great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Ruth Richards and Flip Gurley and many nieces and nephews in different states. She had love for all of her family.

Rosary service will be on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N. Kelley Ave, Edmond, OK. Visitation to follow from 2-8pm, family and friends are invited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Church, 900 S. Littler Ave.
