Obituary for Helen Marie Bryant Graveside service for Helen Marie Isaacson Foster Bryant will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2018 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 1pm-8pm and also on Friday from 9am-2pm, with family receiving visitors from 12pm-2pm. Helen passed from this life on September 22, 2018 at Inverness Village in Tulsa.

She was 97. Helen was born June 4, 1921 in Rogers County, Oklahoma to John Isaacson and Ida (Haggevik) Isaacson, she graduated from Tiawah Schools in 1938. Other than a short duration for education and training, Helen lived in Rogers County, Claremore and Tulsa her entire life.

She married Melvin P. Foster on 24 December, 1941 and a son was born to this union. On December 6, 1965 Helen married Robert W. (Bob) Bryant. When she was in her 50’s, Helen attended Rogers State College in Claremore, where she earned an associates degree in art, graduating with honors.

Helen established lifetime friendships with many fellow artists and remained an active alumni. Some of her hobbies included gardening, pottery, fishing and of course her art. She was very involved with her community and volunteered at Meals on Wheels for many years.

She was also involved with her church, First Presbyterian and with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Helen’s art work won many ribbons in the Rogers County Fair over the years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Those family members that survive include her son Melvin P. Foster, Jr. and wife Barbara of Casa Grande, AZ; her two grandchildren Amy McKendrick of Claremore and David Foster of Rosamond, CA; her great grandchildren Chelsea McKendrick of Bakersfield, CA and Kalie McKendrick of Claremore; her sister Irene Ward also of Claremore. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin and her brothers Joe Isaacson, Edvin Isaacson and John Isaacson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Helen’s name to the Melvin and Barbara Foster and Helen I Bryant Endowment at Rogers State University in memory of Helen I Bryant.
