Obituary of Henry Culbreth, Jr. Culbreth Jr., Henry “Buddy” T., passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was born in Cairo, GA on April 20, 1940. Buddy grew up in Ocala, Florida and attended Ocala High School.

His wife Sandra was his high school sweetheart. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving as a member of Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. He then attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in accounting with honors.

He was a member of Beta Alpha Psi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduating from the University of Florida, Buddy moved to St. Petersburg where he began his career with the firm of Tornwall, Lang & Lee. He went on to become a partner at Cherry, Bekaert & Holland before opening his own practice, Henry T. Culbreth, CPA.

Buddy was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA). He served on the Board of the FICPA Education Trust, chaired the University of Florida Graduate Accounting Conference, and the Florida Board of Accountancy Committee on Continuing Professional Education. Buddy was also a member of the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg and he served as a member of the Urban Solutions Task Force of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.

He served as a board member of the Suncoast Center for Community Mental Health, was a member of the Suncoasters of St. Petersburg, was President of the Family Service Center of Pinellas County, and he was a longtime member of the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) at Faith Covenant Church. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Henry T. Culbreth, Sr. and Thelma (Harp) Culbreth, as well as sisters, Augusta Chehy and Martha Kimler. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sandra Culbreth; children, Mark Culbreth (Laurel), Pam Smith, and David Culbreth; grandchildren, Lindsay Brink (Matthew), Allison Smith Spurrier (Mathew), Robert Smith, Evan Culbreth, and Marissa Culbreth; great-grandchildren, Clinton Brink and Jameson Brink; and sister, Virginia Meldrum.

The family will receive guests for a visitation on Monday, February 25 from 1-2pm at Anderson-McQueen, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. A service will follow at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
