Hermosa’s Obituary Hermosa Bravo Tan passed peacefully on January 24, 2019 at the age of 84. She is survived by husband Romeo Tan, daughter Mary Cheryl Bravo Gloner and son-in-law Alexander Gloner, and siblings Hugo A. Bravo, Louise B. Gervacio, and Elvira B. Alvarez. Hermosa was born on May 31, 1934, in the Barangay of Ipil in Barbaza, in the Province of Antique, Philippines.

She was the third child of eight to Maximiano Baladjay Bravo and Concepcion Alar Bravo. She immigrated to the United States in 1962, docking in Stockton, California. After years of working in floral nurseries and motels, and dabbling in the studies of nursing and cosmetology, Hermosa moved towards the growing industries of Silicon Valley, and found work in electronics, working for various tech companies.

She settled in East Palo Alto where she was a longtime resident. Hermosa was fiercely dedicated to family, both immediate and extended. Growing up with humble means, she was dedicated to the spirit of paying it forward, generously assisting family back home in the Philippines and new arrivals to the States.

She was neighborly, enjoyed laughing, and communal reminiscing and storytelling – often over culinary delights; she was a foodie before the word was coined.
