Hilda Mae Brinkley of Selbyville, Delaware went home to be with the Lord and Savior on May 24, 2019. She was 84years old. Born on April 10, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Milton and Bernice Harmon Toy.

Hilda received her education in the Jamesville Public School system in Jamesville, Virginia. She was joined in Holy matrimony on October 15, 1958 to the late Morris Thomas Brinkley, from this union they were blessed with three children, Anthony, Alton and Amy. Hilda was employed the H&H Poultry Division is Selbyville and later became the Secretary of her late husband’s trucking business A&H Trucking for many years until she retired.

“Hilda Mae” as she was affectionately known, was a very generous woman who didn’t mind sharing and giving to anyone, whether they were in need or not. This was just her nature! She was an avid collector of gospel music and loved shopping.

She also loved reaching out to family and friends and loved spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and was very sociable. Hilda received her Christian education at a young age and was a faithful member at two Delaware churches, Zoar United Methodist Church being supportive and active in the Women’s Society, Senior Usher Board, Roy Moore and Senior Choir and the Dickerson Chapel Young Adult and Senior Choir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Morris T. Brinkley, a daughter Amy Brinkley, Daughter-in-law, Peggy Brinkley, a sister Ethel Gray, and one sister and brother in law.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Anthony O. Brinkley, Laurel, DE. and Alton, M. Brinkley, Georgetown, DE. A brother James Toy, Jamesville, VA and a sister, Doretha Fields (William), Newark, DE.

Seven grandchildren: Geraldine R. (James) Church, of Ocoee, FL, Anthony (Angela) Brinkley, Jr., Elizabethtown, KY, Alton Brinkley, Jr., Atlanta, GA, Altoya Brnkley, Porstmouth, Va, Altonio (Renee) Brinkley, Norfolk, VA, Kristin Brinkley, Newark, DE and Amy Brinkley, Greenwood, DE. Ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware.

Committal will immediately follow at Zoar Golden Acres, Bishopville, MD.
