Obituary for Horace Egbert Taylor Horace E. “Bert” Taylor, 67, of Aylett VA, formerly of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on December 11, 2018. Bert was born May 1, 1951 in Kinston NC, to the late Horace and Louise (Blizzard) Taylor. He retired from the Department of Defense, providing over 32 years of dedicated and unrelenting domestic and foreign service as a Senior National Security Agency Intelligence Officer.

Additionally, he received an honorable discharge at the rank of Captain from the United States Army with over 17 years of meritorious service to include active duty and reserve service. In his military and civilian career, he received multiple service awards to include Good Conduct, Army Achievement, and Army Commendation Medals. His civilian career culminated with the Exceptional Civilian Service Award for extraordinary performance and exceptional accomplishments.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George Taylor and his sister Irma Coombs. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years Allison, his children, sons John Taylor, Bryan Taylor, and daughter Kathryn Allen and her husband Michael. His most cherished role was being a loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren, Zachary, John, Jakob, Petra, Kiley, William, Alexander, and Kameron.

He is also survived by his brother Donald Taylor and his wife Lynne and many nieces and nephews. An open Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at the McKendree United Methodist Church, 4347 Manfield Rd, Manquin, VA 23106 on December 15, 2018. The Visitation will occur from 1 – 2 PM.

The Celebration of Life will begin at 2 PM. A private burial will occur at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any donations be made in his name to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD), federal tax ID number 41-2073220, at www.
